about

Marcel Caron, born and raised in the Netherlands, is a versatile mixer, producer, and sound programmer with a passion for electronic music. Inspired by Reel 2 Real's "I Like To Move It" at the age of twelve, Marcel's love for abstract electronic sounds and catchy hooks led him to start creating his own music.

From tape edits to computer-based music production, Marcel's journey allowed him to explore experimentation, composition, and sound design. Alongside friends, he delved into alternative dance music, using programs like Fast Tracker II to create ambient and experimental techno tracks.

Marcel's fascination with synthesizers, drum machines and effect processors fueled his passion for sound programming. These devices became his playground for experimentation and discovery. Influenced by musical heroes like Aphex Twin, Biosphere, and Autechre, Marcel's love for sound grew.

Over the years, Marcel's interest expanded to combining electronic music with other genres. Collaborating with his friend Ico Balt, they found a mutual passion for producing and mixing hip-hop and indie alternative. They also launched Pelican Sessions , a YouTube live session channel (100k following) where Marcel handled the mixing and engineering.

As part of Lake Woozoo, a production house and music studio in the northern Netherlands, Marcel specializes in mixing and sound programming. His focus lies in electronic pop and hip-hop, drawing inspiration from artists like Tame Impala, The Weeknd, Post Malone and MGMT. Crafting a mix, Marcel prioritizes understanding the song's purpose and using core principles to enhance its essence.

Marcel has worked with artists such as GINGE, Inge van Calkar, Wolfskers and The Cool Quest. He has also done mixing and production work for record labels such as Sony and Universal. Aside from his work as a producer, mixer, and sound programmer, Marcel continues to create alternative dance music under the name Caron.
